she only gets to be surprised once
I believe in making sure it all goes smoothly

Proposal photography in Miami and Palm Beach, planned so carefully she never knows a camera was there until she turns around.

You have the ring. You have the words. What you don’t have is the version of her face she will never be able to describe to anyone.

The moment lasts about thirty seconds. Let me make sure you remember it exactly as it happened.

I Have Hidden Behind a lot of Palm Trees

Jessica Vilchez.

I am Jessica. I am a Miami native and I have been photographing weddings here since 2018. I know which parks have security who will ask questions, which rooftops let the light in at the right hour, and how long you can stand at a lookout before someone walks into your frame.

You are planning the biggest question of your life in a city you might not know as well as you think. Let me carry the part you should not have to think about.

HOW THIS WORKS

Without Her Knowing

1

WE PICK THE SPOT TOGETHER

Tell me where you were thinking, where you have decided, or tell me nothing and I will bring you three options. I know which Miami pretty well and can point you in some of the best directions.

2

we plan leading up to the date

I will be with you every step of the way. Any nerves or steps you are unsure of, you will have access to me leading up to the day.

3

I disappear

I arrive early, find my angle, and shoot long. No signal, no eye contact, no walking toward you. You do exactly what you planned. As far as she knows, the two of you are alone. Also, since we shared locations earlier that morning, I don’t have to second guess when you will be walking up.

4

she turns around

After she says yes, I introduce myself. Most women cry again at this point. We spend twenty minutes making portraits while she is still shaking, which is when the best ones happen. If family and friends are around, we will also take extra portraits to ensure the memory of everyone who was there is documented.

WHAT YOU GET

THE MOMENT ITSELF

The approach, the kneel, her hands, the yes. Shot continuously so nothing is missed between frames.

PORTRAITS AFTER

Twenty to thirty minutes together while the adrenaline is still up. This is where the ring shots and the two of you laughing come from.

BTS CONTENT

An assistant comes with me for one reason. She records the walk up, the kneel, and the sound of her saying yes. Her voice in that moment is the part no photograph can hold.

a private gallery

Delivered online, downloadable in full resolution, and easy to send to family the same night.

preview images in 24 hours

Five to ten fully edited frames so you have something to post before anyone asks.

A HEAD START ON THE WEDDING

Couples who book me for the proposal get first access to my wedding calendar before it opens publicly. Plus a relationship has already been established and makes it so much easier for confidence in front of the camera.

miami proposal

I’ve spent years learning how to be present without being felt.

Most of the proposals I photograph turn into weddings I photograph. That is not an upsell. It is what happens when the first time someone meets you is the best day of their life.

QUESTIONS MEN ASK BEFORE BOOKING

HOW DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH A PROPOSAL WITHOUT BEING SEEN?

I arrive at the location 30 to 45 minutes before you do, so I am already in position and settled when you walk up. I shoot with a long telephoto lens from 50 to 150 feet away, which means I can fill the frame with her face while standing far enough back to read as a stranger on a bench. No flash, no movement toward you, no signals. The two of you never look for me, because looking for me is what gives it away.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?

Two to four weeks is comfortable if it is happening during the week. Because of the nature of the wedding industry, most weddings happen on a weekend. If you are convinced we are a great fit, I would lock it in now. It gives us time to scout, pull a permit if your location needs one, and build a backup plan for weather. I have taken bookings with 72 hours notice contingent to availibility, and I take a limited number of proposal dates each month, so earlier is simply safer. If your date is close, ask anyway.

HOW LONG DOES THE WHOLE THING TAKE?

Plan for about an hour on site. That covers a few minutes of hidden coverage before you arrive, the proposal itself, and 20 to 30 minutes of portraits together after she says yes. If you want to keep going, we can extend into a full engagement session on the same day.

IS THE PROPOSAL FILMED AS WELL AS PHOTOGRAPHED?

Yes. An assistant comes with me and films the entire thing from a separate angle, hidden the same way I am. You get edited clips within a week, short enough to send to family and post the same day, plus the unedited footage to keep.
Most men tell me afterward that the video is the part they go back to. Photographs hold her face. Only the video holds her voice.

DO I NEED A PERMIT TO PHOTOGRAPH IN A PARK OR VIZCAYA?

Public beaches and most city parks do not require one for a short session. Vizcaya, Fairchild, and Florida state parks including Bill Baggs do require a photography permit and have set closing times. I handle the permit and the timing so nothing gets interrupted halfway through.

HOW MUCH DOES PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHY IN MIAMI COST?

Proposal coverage with me begins at $1,100 and includes location scouting, the proposal itself, portraits immediately after, previews within 48 hours, and a full private gallery. Miami proposal photographers generally range from a few hundred dollars for a short hidden session to several thousand for planned, multi-location coverage. What you are paying for at the higher end is preparation, not minutes.
