Coral Gables Backyard Event: A Fiery Summer Celebration for Camille’s 30th

When Suzanne Michael of Suzanne Michael Luxury Events invited me to photograph a Coral Gables backyard event she was planning, I knew it would be something exceptional. Suzanne’s talent for turning personal spaces into immersive, elevated experiences is unmatched, especially when hosting this event. This 30th birthday celebration for Camille was no exception.
Al Carbón was a private dinner party centered around Suzanne’s new open-fire grill concept. Hosting it as a Coral Gables Back Yard Event, with an intimate guest list and a lush residential backdrop, the evening brought together the warmth of home. It also had the detail and polish of a luxury event. As the event photographer, my goal was to quietly capture that transformation, through color, light, and connection.

Designing a Luxury Backyard Event in Coral Gables

This wasn’t your typical backyard barbecue. This event was truly characteristic of a Curated Backyard Experience in Coral Gables. Suzanne reimagined the concept entirely, using produce as décor. Pineapples, lettuces, carrots, and herbs hung from hooks above a live fire grill. The scene was vibrant, organic, and full of movement.

Two stunning tablescapes anchored the design. One in bold red tones with taper candles and pomegranate accents, the other bursting with yellow florals and citrus elements. Both were set against crisp textiles, layered textures, and warm candlelight. The styling struck a perfect balance between elegance and ease. This is exactly what makes backyard events in Coral Gables so enchanting, especially during an intimate outdoor gathering.

Capturing the Atmosphere as the Event Photographer

As the evening unfolded, so did the emotion. Guests laughed, toasted, and lingered around the table. These are the kinds of moments I love to photograph most—the ones that feel both celebratory and deeply personal.
