Erica’s bridal shower at AVA MediterrAegean in the Grove was everything you’d expect from this family, warm, beautiful, and full of meaning.

I first met Erica through her cousin Cecilia, whose wedding I had the honor of photographing. And that’s the thing about this family: once you’re in, you’re in. Her mom, her aunts, her cousins, her brothers, they show up for each other in the most genuine way, and somehow they make you feel like you belong there too.

The details were so Erica. A Mediterranean theme with the most stunning florals, olive oil favors for every guest, and a little framed sign that told the whole story: Jonathan had recommended a restaurant overseas, called ahead to make sure Erica and her friends would be taken care of, and on their very first date, she brought him back that bottle of olive oil as a thank you.

The dock. The light. That blur shot under the trees (I was shaking a little when I looked at the back of my camera). And that Key Largo sunset kiss. I mean. Come on.

This is what it looks like when I get to really know someone before we shoot. No stiff posing, no awkward direction. Just two people completely in their element, and me chasing the light around them.

This is the work I was made to do.

Happy Friday!!!

Sitting here reflecting on what I know to be true after seven years of doing what I love, and I felt like this needed to be said.

I’m not for every bride, and I mean that with so much love. I’m for the one who wants documentary, editorial, timeless. The one who sees her wedding photos as something she’ll pass down, not just post. The one who understands that creating those moments takes more than just showing up. It takes intention. A little calm. Space to breathe. And trust. In me, in the process, in what we can build together when the conditions are right.

I pour everything into every single wedding I photograph. And the most beautiful moments I’ve ever captured happened because the bride and I were already aligned long before the wedding day even started.

These are the ones I’ve been holding onto, waiting for the right moment to share, because wow. Nobody told us we had to fly to the Amalfi Coast for photos that feel like this. This is the Florida Keys. This is their backyard. A place that holds something real for both of them, and it comes through in every image.

Some locations aren’t just pretty. They’re personal. And when a couple brings you somewhere that actually means something to them, the images stop being pretty pictures and start being something else entirely.
